Turn of the 20th century postcard publisher from Yüksek Kaldırım, Teke Sokak No 578, İstanbul. Operated an art framing business and sold many types of art, including watercolors, oleographs, photo gravures, photo lithographs and of course postcards. Most postcards attributed to Moïse Barouh are from 1918 onward. Postcards are mostly printed by Emil Pinkau, Leipzig (Germany). Most colored and Sepia cards are on cheap card stock showing common views printed and sold by other publishers. Emil Pinkau printed cards are identified by their 3 or 4 letter stock/reorder codes. - HNUE coded color cards, 72 in total, are numbered in front bottom left, MB logo on the right - SOTT coded color cards, 72 in total, are numbered in front bottom left, MB logo on the right - HOUL coded color, embossed (oval) cards. Abbreviated name on back left, no numbering (very similar to cards published by JMF). They contain some different views not found in other series - UHU coded black & white cards which appear to be the same series as the SOTT coded cards - HSEH coded Beaute Orientale series are mostly found in color but few rare black & white versions also exist. There are three other black & white series, one with no printer logo, another with NBC logo (a German printers' association). These two series are identical, containing the same views as in HNUE and SOTT but consist of 96 cards each printed by Emil Pinkau. The third series is printed in Italy with some unique views. There is another color series with fancy MB logo on the back with a serial number. Many of these cards have unique views but the print quality is low.

RPPC - Sepia
RPPC - Sepia

These cards are easily identifiable by the title font. The pictures and the title wordings are different from the 96-card sepia series even for the few cards that contain the same picture. All cards are printed in Italy. as per the writing in the middle back (Produzione Italiana).

Oval Cards
Oval Cards
Exact same cards were published/sold by J.M.F. The only distinguishing mark is on the back. Most likely these cards were offered to multiple publishers by Emil Pinkau, Leipzig firm, with the option to print the publisher's name and a serial number on the back. As Moise Barouh did not include a serial number, all the numbering of the cards are of my own. Emil Pinkau order code HOUL is used. Depicting well-known popular views of Istanbul, these postcards can be found with a green or brown frame.
